There are 3 looped walks, sign posted with varying distances and difficulties.

I did the Lenihan loop which starts with a slight pull, dropping down into a wooded area, which is real fairy tale stuff, with a host of trees and a stream running over narrow bridges.

There are a then a variety of steepish hills up to the road, then back down into the woods climbing back up to high area, affording great views of Tralee Bay and Mid-Kerry.

The walk concludes with a gental walk down into a wooded area zig-zagging back to the parking area

The Map and Stats…

Experience: I used this as a warm up for Carrantuohil the following week. As has been the case for most of the summer the weather was playing it’s part to make it a delightful afternoon.

Looking around the blackberries were starting to ripen on the side of the paths, there was visible storm damage from the winter in the woods, but it had all been tidied up in neat piles, which looks like it will benefit future wild life.

There are various benches around the course and I always like to take a water break after the last climb, which has wonderful views of Tralee and the Bay.

This walk never disappoints and is well suited for families as well as track runners.
