Once again we're reaching that mid-summer time of year and the Ring of Kerry cycle is a mere 2 weeks away. The Ring of Kerry sponsored cycle is still one of the show piece cycle events of the year but the circuit itself is open for business 365 days of the year and is waiting for any individual or group to give it their best shot. A Month without Sugar..... For a few months now I have felt that I was eating too much of the sticky stuff. Getting your head around cutting down on it is a completely different issue. How do you start? It's everywhere. Stop eating chocolate? But the sugar is still there, in bread, cakes, sauces, breakfast cereals etc. in-fact it's laced in virtually all processed food. I call it a gift from our corporate gods! Some figures I read recently alluded to the fact that the average adult now consumes the equivalent to 109 lb's of the stuff per annum [...]

Route Description: Event details are as follows, there are some changes to the route from last year. Starting in the carpark at Adare, the route proceeds Westwards through Shanagolden,  Glin (Info Control) and into Co. Kerry through Ballylongford and Astee. Turning south by Beale Strand the riders will enter Ballybunion where there will be a manned control. After Ballybunion we head South east through Listowel, Abbeyfeale and on into Co. Cork over the only major climb of the day to visit the towns of Newmarket and Kanturk (155km, Control). [...]
