The Dingle Cycling Club are spreading the word regarding our annual Dingle Cycling Challenge on Saturday May 5th in conjunction with Feile na Bealtaine. So please come and join us at 9.00am from the marina.
The event comprises of 110km of Westkerrys spectacular scenery including the ever so challenging but ever so beautiful Conor Pass and the Slea Head route.
Last year we were joined by an outstanding 150 cyclists and this year we hope to host over 200 enthusiastic participants ( the ideal preparation for the ring of kerry! ) Most importantly it enables you to contribute to our chosen charity Camphill Community: to build their new much needed residence in Dingle.
All cyclists are invited to join us afterwards for eats and live music from The Candida 10 piece Brass Band at 9.00pm Dick Mack’s Yard, Green Street,

The Kerry Group Rás Mumhan is renowned as one of the top cycle races on the Irish domestic calendar. For 2011 the event organisers have developed a special sportive for the queen stage.  The Etape Rás Mumhan provides the leisure & sportive rider with a rare opportunity to ride a classic stage of a domestic  road stage race.

LEISURE CYCLING: CONOR PASS / DINGLE TOUR – Date: Saturday, 2nd April

It promises to be the first of many events run under the banner of KerryCyclingTours and has the advantage of expertise in the Tourist Industry and of course Cycling events. The outing will be based at the Earl of Desmond Hotel in Tralee co Kerry.

Dingle Peninsula Challenge

Dingle Peninsula Challenge

Route: Dingle To Camp & Return Via Conor Pass Approx 64km.

Slea Head (via Ventry – Home Via Ballyferriter) Approx 44km.

An impressive and challenging event.

This cycle includes the infamous Connor Pass Hill and takes in the Scenic Slea Head whilst passing through Dingle town.

Consisting of 110km in length, this leisure cycle event should seriously be considered by anyone who is participating in this year’s Ring of Kerry Cycle. (taking place in early July)

Below is a link to a New Years Day Charity Cycle that is being held in Dingle, organised by Cumann Rothaiochta Chorca Dhuibhne. This is being held at 10 am on Saturday 1st January and is in aid of Camphill Communities.

There are 2 cycles:

  • one short 10km route ‘family cycle’
  • one longer route 50km around the Dingle Peninsula

Tea, coffee and mulled wine will be available at Dingle Marina afterwards.

This 46 Kilometer route is simply spectacular. It leaves Dingle and heads west out the Dingle Peninsula with views beyond compare and a route that is perfect for cycling on any type of bike. The road can be narrow at times but the surface is mostly in good condition.

Leaving Dingle Town head westward following sign’s for Ventry. Ventry is a small village roughly 8K from Dingle made most famous in recent times for Páidi Ó Sé’s pub which has had many a famous vistor since it opened in 1985. The last time I cycled pass this it was too tempting not to go in, it was a cold day and the fire was on and the craic was mightly. Be warned!

Dingle Cycling Club are hosting a leisure cycle on the May Bank Holiday Weekend. This route is Slea head and well worth a visit if you are around. Starting at 9.30am, sign on from 8.30am, distance 110km. Further details contact 086 2630236 or check out the Dingle Cycling Club website.
