Route: Tralee-6 Crosses (Listowel)-Lixnaw-Abbeydorney-Tralee Distance: 49 Km Height gain: 430 Metres Difficulty: 5/10 Details: Leaving Tralee via Oak Park on the old part of the N69, direction Listowel, you get most of the climbing for this route done as you leave Tralee. From here on the road is in fairly good shape and you can make good time towards 6 Crosses. On reaching Kelly's garage you need to take a sharp left immediately after (almost a U turn). Here the [...]

Glanageenty Loop Walk-A hidden gem The Nitty Gritty: Route: Lenihan Loop Distance: 5.3 km Height gain: 217 metres Difficulty: 4/10 Details: This is a great amenity situated between Tralee and Castleisland. There are 3 looped walks, sign posted with varying distances and difficulties. I did the Lenihan loop which starts with a slight pull, dropping down into a wooded area, which is real fairy tale stuff, with a host of trees and a stream running over narrow bridges. There are a then a variety of steepish hills up to the [...]

A new car park has now been built, so no need to park on the road anymore. The route starts on a concrete road known as the [...]

Tralee-Fenit-Ardfert-Tralee The Nitty Gritty: Route: Tralee-Fenit-Barrow-Ardfert-Tralee Distance: 36 km Height gain: 218 metres Difficulty: 5.5/10 Details: Heading out of Tralee, take the R558 all the way to Fenit. Just 1 short climb to worry about on this 10 km section of the cycle taking in a good bit of Tralee Bay. After taking in the sea air take the road back out of Fenit and take a left at the old Lighthouse motel (top of the hill). From here the road takes a good few twists and turns and a couple of short hills. The [...]
