30 Days and 30 Cycles: Day 3 (Drumm Cup)
Today was day 3 of the challenge and I competed in the 46th Annual John Drumm Cup held in Currow. The race was three laps of a nearly ten mile circuit (see route below) and it totalled 29 miles. I was competing in the A4 category which had a big enough field of nearly 50 riders.
The race was pretty fast by my standards averaging 24 mph (38 kph) over the circuit. But I held on in the bunch at the finish, was in a 3 man breakaway at one stage and was in 2nd place with about 200 meters to go but bad positioning as the bunch swamped me on both sides which made it impossible to get a good position for the finish. But all in all not bad. For full breakdown on the results and pictures of the Drumm Cup check out the CurrowCC website
Here is the route for anyone interested, as you can see pretty flat but there was a slight dig at the end.
