At the moment I am taking a series of yoga classes as a means of keeping myself flexible and strong during what is looking likely to be a long winter. I have to say that even after the first few sessions I find myself benefitting from it. Yoga is a combination of breathing exercises, physical postures, and meditation that has been practiced for thousands of years.

Other than the benefits gained from the meditation and breathing elements of yoga the physical benefits gets very noticable very quickly. I can only describe a yoga posture as similiar to stretching (and holding the stretches) to loosen out the body and remove tension and stress that exists in our musles and joints. I have found the postures that I do are really great for stretching out legs that are tired from training. I have also found the benefits that yoga provides to the core of the body, strengthening the back and abdominal muscles. I would definately advise that a cyclist should look into taking something like Yoga or Pilates up especially during the winter. As a starting point I would recommend taking a class from a qualification instructor, once you know the basics you can practise this on your own with loads of videos and online resources available. Anyone considering yoga classes in Kerry should speak with Michael at
