Pike is a considerable climb just a few miles outside of Castleisland. Beginning at the bottom of the town head up main street up past the top of the town and the library heading straight on out the Cordal Road. Follow the signposts for Cordal which is a village about 3 k out of Castleisland.
Here is where the real climb kicks in with a gradient of 10% setting in very quickly. After about a mile of very steep slog the climb evens out to a more steady gradient of 7% until the top where a height of 843 feet is reached.
|Distance:||4.6 Miles, 7.3 K|
|Max Gradient:||10.2 %|
A tough one! I’ve been climbing this climb sine the late 90’s and sometimes use it for hill repeats but only when I’m in good shape. Great Strength Training this one as it is more suited to the rider who can pull on the handlebars well.
